About Us

We acknowledge the traditional custodians and storytellers of the Glasshouse Mountains, Beerwah and surroundings region, the Gubbi Gubbi and Jinibara People. We pay respect to elders past, present and emerging.

The Beerwah writers group was formed in March 2006, by a group of like-minded people who wanted to share their experience with writing.

OBJECTIVES OF BEERWAH WRITERS GROUP
  • To foster skilled literary creativity through the written word in people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
  • To promote the work of the group in and beyond the local community.
  • To actively pursue these objectives through fortnightly meetings involving workshops, writing exercises, readings, tutoring, and discussion.

We meet on the second and fourth Fridays of the month from 10 am until 12 noon in the Meeting Room at Beerwah Library, 25 Peachester Road, Beerwah.  Members pay an Attendance Fee of $4.00. This includes complimentary tea/coffee, refreshments. Money to be collected at the start of each meeting. New members are welcome and encouraged; a yearly subscription of $10.00 applies.

  • Members share experiences of writing and publishing and often speak on various aspects of writing such as copyright and infringement.
  • Education in various aspects of the writing industry is often provided by visiting guest speakers.
  • Several members have published their work and their books are available for sale to the public.
